Candidates currently have 240 minutes (4 hours) to complete the examination.
The exam currently covers five domains: Strategic Program Alignment – 15% Program Life Cycle Management – 44% Business Alignment – 11% Stakeholder Engagement – 16% Governance – 14%
The panel review is an assessment of the candidate's submitted program management experience by qualified program management professionals. Successful completion is required before proceeding to the examination.
Candidates first submit an application to PMI demonstrating that they meet the applicable education and program/project management experience requirements. Eligible candidates then proceed through PMI's required assessment process before scheduling the examination.
Yes. Candidates should be prepared to apply program management principles to practical situations and select the most appropriate course of action.
Focus on understanding the PMI framework rather than memorizing definitions. Practice applying concepts to program-level scenarios, particularly around benefits, strategic alignment, governance, stakeholders, dependencies, and program life cycle decisions.
If you do not pass, you can use your remaining attempts during your eligibility period, subject to PMI's current retake policies. Reviewing your performance and strengthening weaker areas before retaking the exam is recommended.
